fashion month recap

now that's its all over, let's speculate what we might be wearing next fall....

far east

sportmax
zac posen

nicolas andreas taralis
proenza schouler

josie natori
jason wu

issa
dries van noten

not only do the martial arts-inspired pieces look visually interesting, they also create a ring of protection since everyone will think you can karate chop them into oblivion.

in the ranks

salvatore ferragamo
tommy hilfiger

marc by marc jacobs
maxmara

bill blass
kenzo

though i think a full-on military look rarely works off the runway, i do enjoy a nice officer's cap.

extra large

jean charles de castelbajac
veronique leroy

celine
topshop unique

acne
issey miyake

at first i thought the models had just gotten skinnier this year. but no.

fuzz head

temperley london
yigal azrouel

missoni
moschino cheap and chic

limi feu
michael kors

emilio pucci
issa

anna sui
billy reid

fur was everywhere, of course, but no where else did it stand out as much as perched strategically on the noggin. what's better, could not be harder to pull off in real life- unless you're julie christie in doctor zhivago.

glove love

reem acra
tory burch

lanvin
nina ricci

diane von furstenberg
costume nationale

chanel
charlotte ronson

ann demeulemeester
bottega veneta

this one's a conspiracy. i counted more than twenty designers using elbow length or longer leather gloves. get ready to throw away all your short ones, i guess...

thigh high

rachel zoe
versus

pedro lourenco
ports 1961

givenchy
helmet lang

once a. wang showed tall boots, i thought that it might be over for ankle boots. glad to see the thigh high going to strong. i will always love it thanks to julia roberts.

hourglass shape

carlos miele
burberry prorsum

dkny
christian dior

haider ackermann
fendi

john rocha
jen kao

alexander mcqueen
ysl

at least you can belt the giant coat you'll be wearing.

decorative designs

salvatore ferragamo
osman

kinder aggugini
marni

gucci
karen walker

dolce and gabbana
emporio armani

probably due to the asian and renaissance trends, i call all this brocade-ing and jacquard-ing (not real words) and what have you, wallpaper fabric. i often think that most wallpaper designs are better suited for a pair of trousers anyway so fine by me. and that cape is sick.
